As your tendon heals, an orthopedist can gradually reduce the amount of plantar flexion on the VACOped. Thissafely increases the amount of tension on the tendon and avoids unwantedshortening of the Achilles tendon without increasing the likelihood ofre-rupture. (see clinical study)
